Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

ForkVote is developed by an individual developer (Chris Lee). This policy explains what information the ForkVote app collects and how it's used. ForkVote is built to need as little information about you as possible.

Account information

ForkVote does not ask for your name, email address, or phone number. When you open the app, it creates an anonymous identifier for your device using Firebase Authentication's anonymous sign-in — this identifier isn't linked to any personal information and can't be used to identify you.

Group session data

If you create or join a group session, ForkVote stores the following, associated only with your anonymous identifier:

This data is used only to generate suggestions and tally votes for your group. Sessions are automatically and permanently deleted a few hours after they're created — this data isn't kept indefinitely, and it's never sold or shared with third parties.

Camera access

ForkVote can use your device's camera to scan a QR code containing a group join code. No photos or video are captured, stored, or uploaded — the camera is used only to read the code on screen.

Crash and diagnostic data

ForkVote uses Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect crash reports if the app encounters a problem, so issues can be identified and fixed. This can include your device model, operating system version, app version, and the technical details of what the app was doing when it crashed. This data is used solely for diagnosing and fixing bugs.

App integrity checks

ForkVote uses Firebase App Check to confirm that requests to its backend come from a genuine, unmodified copy of the app, using Apple's App Attest service on real devices. This exchange verifies your device, not you personally, and isn't used to track you.
